When a court reporter makes the decision to become a member of the Tennessee Court Reporters Association (TCRA), it is the first step to becoming a member of an excellent group of fellow court reporters and to be a part of an organization that works for court reporters and our chosen profession.
Our association is grateful to have so many active volunteers who are working hard toward meeting goals and objectives of TCRA. At the 2008 Annual Convention, the membership unanimously voted to move forward on licensure efforts. The Legislative Committee has been making strides towards our ultimate goal of licensure. Our organization offers a whole host of other benefits as well.
TCRA has a Code of Professional Ethics and a volunteer Board that is working for reporters. TCRA also offers networking opportunities with fellow reporters, currently has a voluntary CCR program, publishes quarterly newsletters (The Volunteer Reporter), membership directories, and a Court Reporter Handbook.
Recently, our organization updated our Website and logo. Our brand-new TCRA logo is part of our new look, and we are very excited about it. The idea was to bring our logo into the 21st Century, while at the same time retaining some of the features of the previous logo. The new abstract outline of the state of Tennessee is modern and gives one the illusion of an arrow pointing forward, as if to symbolize our cutting-edge technology of court reporting! The three stars have been retained to represent the three regions of our large state: Western, Middle, and Eastern. Members also may enjoy the benefit of being able to proudly display our new logo, by written permission and some restrictions, on their advertising materials. Learn more about our TCRA Logo Policy.
Another exciting opportunity for members is a reduced registration fee at our Annual Convention. Members may also advertise and place classified ads in The Volunteer Reporter.
