Happy 2008! By the time you read this article, we will be well into 2008. Will we have snow this winter? Will it be another dry year? Who knows? We cannot see into the future, and maybe that is a good thing.
But sometimes don't you wish you could see into the future 5 years, 10 years, maybe even 20 years? What would you see? Well, since you are a realtime reporting student, hopefully you would see yourself as a successful court reporter or captioner or CART provider.
Isn't that an exciting thought? Just visualize yourself sitting in a courtroom taking down testimony or sitting in a classroom using your talent to "hear" for a deaf student. Or how about captioning the Super Bowl or American Idol? Now, that is exciting!
I challenge you to think positively in 2008. Don't be overcome by negative thoughts: "It's too hard. I can't do this." Instead, start off the new year determined to practice every day, determined to clean up your notes, but most importantly, determined to start off 2008 with a POSITIVE attitude -- I CAN do this! I CAN be a court reporter! I CAN be a captioner or CART provider! Don't defeat yourself with negative vibes.
Just visualize yourself in the future with school behind you and a great career in front of you! I KNOW you can do it!
